The Blue Planet - Earth. Earths surface is covered by 71% water and the oceans contain our planets most diverse and largest biomass. From the depths of the deepest and darkest place on earth, the Marianas Trench, to the reefs that lie in shallow tropical waters, life has continued to thrive for the last few million years. The oceans however are ever changing, mostly a natural event, as species evolve and continents collide and diverge, yet in the relatively short time that man has been present in the geological calendar - a mere blip in time - we are destroying that which has survived so well before us. We are so successful in this destruction that those species which have been present on earth longer than anything else, that have survived mass extinctions and are so well evolved to be the top apex predator in the ocean - Chondrichthyans (Sharks) - are slowly being wiped out - all because of man. From Chondrichthyans at the top of the food chain to plankton at the bottom and everything in between, we are affecting it all.
We are responsible for our actions and for putting right the actions of generations past, setting in place the values that future generations will hold strong. We are the guardians of the oceans.
HAWNT Media is focused on producing high quality, beautiful and inspiring works to raise awareness and educate about our oceans. Our latest publications - Oceans Magazine and The Ocean Times - offer a different perspective of our oceans. A unique perspective that comes from being involved with hands on research, a first hand experience of what is happening in the cycle of life, the exciting news, the impacts and the efforts that are being taken to rectify them. Beautiful photography & art, wildlife & conservation, science & the environment and destinations & adventure will inspire and inform.
Both magazines are available throughout Australia as well as distributed internationally. Subscriptions are available on line. For those wishing to be a little more environmentally conservative we offer an on-line version of the magazine for a reduced rate. Please see the subscription pages for details.
